PORTABOOM® PB4000 SERIES

The PORTABOOM® PB4000 Series is a portable boom gate driven by wireless remote, designed for roadworks, controlled site entry and managed events. The operator stands in a safe zone well back from the carriageway while the boom holds a solid barrier across the road.

That barrier is the difference. A stop/slow bat or a portable signal asks the driver to interpret an instruction, while a boom across the lane gives them nothing to argue with. One trained controller can run as many as four units at once, and the boom covers roughly four out of five scenarios where a crew would otherwise be standing in the traffic stream.

The PB4000 is the newest generation of the platform. Its top box is gone, which drops the overall height and makes the unit easier to wheel into position. The control and electrical gear now share a single sealed compartment that connects up without tools. The legs, feet and pins that carry the load have been remade in stainless steel to cut the maintenance burden.

Features

  • Wireless remote operation, so the controller works from a safe zone instead of the traffic stream.
  • A solid, high-visibility barrier across the lane, which motorists treat as a stop rather than a suggestion.
  • Lower overall height. Removing the top box makes the unit shorter and easier to move around a site.
  • Control and electrical gear housed together in one sealed, lockable compartment that connects without tools, protecting the electronics and simplifying servicing.
  • Upgraded circuit board with stronger radio frequency performance for a reliable signal at greater distance. A further range upgrade is offered, subject to configuration.
  • Load-bearing components in stainless steel. The extendable legs, levelling feet and plunge pins resist corrosion and need less attention over their life.
  • Wider stability leg geometry, which spreads the footprint and holds the unit steady on uneven or loose ground.
  • LED strip lighting along the boom arm, brighter and tougher than the previous setup.
  • Optional second 40Ah rechargeable battery, mounted in its own cradle, for longer deployments. Recommended for ‘L’ models.
  • Remotes in one, two, three and four button layouts, matched to how the site runs.
  • Assembles by hand on site in about five minutes. No tools needed.
  • Four solid wheels with brakes on the rear pair, heavy enough to hold position in weather but still a one-person move.

WHAT IS THE PORTABOOM® PB4000 SERIES?

It is a patented portable boom gate, operated by remote, used to control traffic through roadworks, manage entry to worksites and run vehicle access at events.
By wireless remote from a safe zone, keeping the controller clear of moving traffic. Remote layouts come in one, two, three and four button versions.
Around five minutes. The boom arm and stability legs fit by hand, so no tools are needed.

The rechargeable batteries are rated for up to 6,500 boom movements. For longer deployments a second 40Ah battery can be fitted in its own cradle, which the supplier recommends for 'L' models.
