Project Overview
In early 2022, works began to upgrade St Marys bus station in Western Sydney. The interchange is a busy, high-traffic area with pedestrians, shared zones, bus stops and nearby carparks, creating a need for a barrier system with strong safety performance and a small footprint.
The contractor approached Workzone Solutions for advice on selecting the right barrier to address the unique safety risks of the site.
Our Solution
Workzone Solutions recommended the DB80A T150S, a TL-4 rated barrier with an extremely low deflection rating of just 0.8 metres. This made it ideal for the constrained layout of the St Marys interchange, where space was limited and pedestrian safety was a key concern.
The barriers were anchored directly into the median island, providing additional stability without compromising the surrounding infrastructure. Different barrier lengths were used to suit the various curves and layouts across the station zone.
In total, around 200 metres of DB80A T150S barriers were installed to create a safer environment for pedestrians and transit users throughout the site.
