Project Overview

Our client, Blue Mountains Pipe & Civil, took on a challenging landslip clearing project at Cliff Drive in Katoomba.

This initiative was set in motion by the Blue Mountains City Council and involved clearing away rubble, debris, and vegetation that resulted from the landslip, removing fallen trees, unblocking surface drains, and redirecting water flow into existing swale drains.

To restore the area, Blue Mountains Pipe & Civil crafted new swale drains lined with jute mesh, installed gabion rock walls, and put up new guardrails and signposts.

Our Solution

Workzone Solutions’ concrete jersey kerb barriers played a crucial role in this project, ensuring the safety of drivers along the high side of the road.

Blue Mountains Pipe & Civil sourced the Deltabloc concrete jersey kerb units from Workzone Solutions and set up the new concrete jersey kerb along Cliff Drive. These robust and highly impact resistant road barriers are designed to prevent minor rock falls and debris from affecting Cliff Drive in the future, while also safeguarding motorists from accidentally coming into contact with the exposed rock face next to the roadway.

Deltabloc Jersey Kerb

Deltabloc DB80 concrete jersey kerbs come in lengths of 2 metres, 4 metres, or 6 metres. By adding accessories like sturdy steel mesh fence panels and printed fabric, you can easily turn them into a site hoarding barrier that ensures safety, privacy, and even branding.

These kerbs are typically found on roads and highways. The Deltabloc is a steel-reinforced, MASH-approved jersey kerb that provides dependable breakthrough prevention for heavy vehicles while offering a softer impact for smaller cars.

In New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia, they’re approved for road use at speeds up to 100 km/h, and in Queensland and Western Australia, up to 80 km/h. The Deltabloc DB80 concrete barrier helps minimise the risk of head-on collisions caused by out-of-control vehicles crossing the median strip into oncoming traffic. Contractors also use them for projects like the one in Katoomba, where it’s essential to line soft or dangerous edges with a solid road barrier.

With precast production facilities in most states, Workzone Solutions can quickly cast and ship bulk barrier orders right to your site. For more details on our jersey kerbs, check out the product specifications or give our team a call for a quick quote.
