Project Overview

Moorebank Logistics Park stands as Australia’s largest freight infrastructure project, boasting a whopping $2 billion price tag. This expansive development covers 243 hectares and is set to create a direct link between Port Botany and intermodal rail terminals, along with over 850,000 square meters of warehousing. Once it’s up and running, this hub is expected to handle more than 1 million containers by rail each year, which will significantly cut down on truck traffic and help alleviate congestion on Sydney’s roads.

Fulton Hogan has been entrusted with the Stage 1 design and construction contract for the Import Export (IMEX) Terminal. As part of the pavement and infrastructure work, over 1.3 kilometers of crash-rated barriers are being installed on-site to ensure the safety of workers and effectively manage traffic through active work zones.

Our Solution

Workzone Solutions supplied 1320 metres of Deltabloc DB80 concrete jersey kerb barriers to support this critical stage of the IMEX terminal build. A mix of 2 metre, 4 metre, and 6 metre barriers were used, along with 4 metre tapered end sections to provide a clean, safe finish.

These barriers offer exceptional performance thanks to their patented coupling system and internal elastomer bearings, which help absorb and dissipate impact energy. MASH tested to TL-3, the DB80 is engineered to withstand collisions from heavy vehicles travelling up to 100 km/h, with minimal deflection and high reliability.

Used throughout the IMEX facility, the barriers provided both passive protection and active traffic management as the development progressed.
